Advisory Groups
The Office of the CIO has two main advisory groups that govern its work, the Information Technology Committee and the Madison Technical Advisory Group. In addition, there are several other IT communities on campus that have liaisons to these committees and/or inform the work of the Office.
Information Technology Committee (ITC)
The ITC is the faculty advisory body for policy and planning for information technology throughout the University. ITC Web site
Madison Technical Advisory Group (MTAG)
The MTAG provides advice and consultation to the UW-Madison CIO Office regarding technical and implementation issues that may have an effect on the department and division IT units. MTAG Web site
Community of Educational Technology Support (ComETS)
ComETS is a UW-Madison technology support community of those who are involved with teaching and learning with technology in any way (e.g., instructional designers, multimedia experts, IT administrators). They come together online and through meetings and brown bag presentations to network with one another and share expertise and resources. ComETS Web site
Primary Tech Partners
The concept of Primary Tech Partners (PTPs) is that there be one (primary) designated technology person in each department who acts as a liaison with DoIT. The typical PTP is an ISP or System Administrator-level staff person, not necessarily an administrator or manager. Those who apply to become a PTP will need to have their department manager or director confirm them as the department's primary contact. An automated confirmation procedure is included as part of the registration process. PTP Web site
Tech Partners
Tech Partners is a forum of more than 800 UW-Madison computing professionals who discuss campus computing and technology issues online. Discussions cover a variety of topics including opinions about hardware and software, how-to questions, requests for resources, and the good and bad aspects of new technologies. Tech Partners Web site
