UW guest wireless expanded
Friday, January 20, 2012
Access to the UW-Madison wireless network has been available at the Memorial Union and Union South for several months. Now this guest access has been expanded to include the Chazen Museum and College (Helen C. White), Memorial, Steenbock and Wendt libraries. The guest wireless network, named "UWNet-Guest," allows two different authorization methods. UW-Madison NetID holders will log in just once per semester with their NetID and password. Guests providing an email address to log in will be registered for seven days on the system.
The current wireless network, "UWNet," will not be affected by the addition of the "UWNet-Guest" network, and the project to upgrade buildings that have legacy wireless (designated by a name with the format "UWNet-Building_Name") will continue as planned. For those who would like to provide visitors with a guest NetID, the service (

) will also remain unchanged.
