UW media centers recognized for excellence
Wednesday, June 20, 2007
UW-Madison campus technology partners, including the newly renamed Digital Media Center @ Biotech, have just been named a 2007 Center of Excellence by the international New Media Consortium (NMC). The award is the highest honor bestowed by the NMC and recognizes demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievement in the application of technology to learning or creative expression.
The award was given for UW-Madison's "systemic and comprehensive approaches to faculty support." It specifically cited the efforts of the media centers across campus, groups supporting podcasting & games and simulations for learning, the Community of Educational Technology Support (ComETS), the Engage program and DoIT Academic Technology.
The Digital Media Center coordinates campus membership in the NMC, and DMC staff and members of ComETS were honored to accept the award at a ceremony in Indianapolis on June 8. As part of the acceptance, the UW-Madison partners created a short video highlighting the exciting array of technologies that support teaching and learning on our campus.
