Charter 9.4: Campus administrative systems

Draft 9/21/09 (.pdf)

Strategic Initiative:

Develop campus administrative systems as part of enterprise infrastructure.

Background/Rationale:

While our mission is teaching, research and outreach, it's important that we develop, run and maintain excellent systems to facilitate each one. Paying faculty, providing course info and handling student data are all essential systems for the campus. We cannot run the institution without robust administrative systems. A strong core of integrated information enables the institution to navigate its future. Failure to do so would hinder our competitive edge.

The type of institutional information and analytics we need and use includes:
- cost growth per credit over time
- research portfolio
- projected research directions (data about faculty)
- data about courses (density, changes over time)
- academic success and improvement for incoming students

Strategies/Actions to Advance this Initiative:

Grants management suite (Shared Financial System)
Student Administrative Integration Pack (SAIP)
Integrated Student Information System
Human Resource System
Course delivery system(s) (Learn@UW)
Budget system
Customer relationship management system

- Student transcript delivery
- Course Guide
- Common Scholarship Application
- Grant pre-award proposal submission
