About IT Policies
The IT Policy and Planning Department reports directly to the Office of the CIO. The department develops IT-related policies for campus and provides support to UW-Madison units involved in the research and development of policies, guidelines and procedures that have a strong IT component.
IT policy development incorporates campus-wide input and collaboration. An IT Policy Planning Team is charged with identifying improvements regarding IT policy principles and procedures and overall policy planning.
The Information Technology Committee is the primary shared governance committee responsible for campus IT policy. Their oversight helps assure alignment with institutional culture and the goals and needs of broad campus constituencies.
