Laptop Decals

Generic-looking laptops are among the most sought after objects of theft at airports because opportunistic thieves can always make the plausible excuse, "Oh, sorry, I thought that was mine" as they attempt to walk away with your laptop at the security gate.

The free laptop decals created by OCIS are one way to help differentiate your laptop. Some decals have a simple message with the OCIS web site address, others include tips for keeping computers secure, and a third variation has a "If found, contact:" where users can fill in the blank with a name, email address or phone number.

To get a free decal, visit the DoIT Tech Store, 1210 W. Dayton Street.

Contest

From March 9 - May 10, 2009, OCIS is sponsoring a "Show Us Your Decal" contest. Each time one of the decals is spotted on a student’s computer by personnel at the Memorial Union Satellite Walk-in Help Desk located just outside the former Games Room in the old ASM Student Print counter at the botom of the stairs. The laptop owner will be entered into a drawing to receive a free 1GB flash drive, pre-loaded with security and other software. There will be one drawing per week, and you can re-enter each week. So pick up a decal at the Tech Store then stop by the Memorial Union Help Desk and "show ‘em your decal."
